Firm converts skip into swimming pool to cool down staff

WITH maximum temperatures soaring to 38 degrees on Teesside yesterday (Tuesday, 19th July), bosses at Scott Bros came up with a novel way to allow staff to cool off!

The family-run firm converted one of its skips into a makeshift swimming pool after lining it with plastic sheeting and topping it up with cold water.

Director Peter Scott said: “It certainly beats a hot tub in this kind of weather and for once we don’t mind staff ‘skip-ing’ work a while to cool down. We might even start a new trend among cold water swimmers!”

Neil Crawford, a machine operator at the Stockton-on-Tees skip hire and recycling firm, added: “We’re happy to get on with our jobs despite the heat, but this is a proper treat. It’s almost as good as being by the pool in Benidorm!”
