Take a trip with travelbug Skip Chick Grace

OUR car-crazy June Skip Chick is Miles by name, miles by nature. Meet Skip Chick Grace Miles, of Bucks Recycling, Aylesbury.

Hello! Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m Grace Miles, 22, and I work for Bucks Recycling as Customer Services and Logistics Team Leader.

Excellent. And how long have you been there?
Four years. I answer customer calls, manage the drivers’ days, route all the lorries and lead an amazing team.

Tell us what you like about working there.
Definitely the work banter, we are one huge family! But of course, the wage packets help.

Well, job satisfaction alone won’t pay those soaring electricity bills! What are the most memorable times you’ve had at work?
The day that everybody got my name wrong over the phone. I don’t think people can hear me clearly as they are in huge loud call centres, so they just guess! Anything that starts with a G or R… it used to get on my nerves but now it’s a running joke in the office.

How hard can it be to remember your name? Err, what is it again? Nevermind… where can we find you when you’re not at work?
I spend most my time with my partner normally doing something to our cars or out drinking with friends.

Just don’t mix the two – there are laws against that. Tell us the craziest thing you’ve ever done.
Driving to Scotland for the day just because my friends and I were bored. We’re about six hours from the border.

Nice little day trip. We’re feeling all romantic here at Skip Hire Magazine towers – what’s your idea of a romantic night out?
A candlelit dinner on the beach with Lewis Capaldi.

That’s another six-hour car drive to Glasgow coming up, might be easier to just fly! Perhaps some superhero powers would help – what would you like to do?
I’d like to have the power of healing; I don’t like seeing people hurt and not being able to help.

What a kind-hearted soul you are. What song is your ‘theme tune’?
That’s Not My Name by the Ting Tings (see above!)

It’s a funny old world – tell us about it.
Before I started working for Bucks Recycling, I stopped to help a man whose car had broken down on the main country road outside the farm I was living on at the time. Fast forward two years later; turns out he was related to the owner. Small world.

Let’s hear three little words that really sum you up.
Strong, independent and enigmatic – the girls in the office helped me on this one.

Holidays are on the horizon – hooray! Where would you love to go?
I would love to go on a safari in somewhere like Kenya or even a hot air balloon ride over the bush.

We’d settle for a wet weekend in Skegness right now, to be honest. Who would be your fantasy dinner guest?
Sir David Attenborough; I could sit and talk to him for hours on end – what a legend.

He could give you a few tips for your safari, I’m sure! Ever met anyone famous?
Fatboy Slim.

Right here, right now? Nevermind. Imagine winning the National Lottery – what’s on the shopping list? I’d buy a plane to I can fly anywhere in the world with my friends and family.

Save a seat for us. Finally, cheer us up with your best joke.
Did you hear about the cheese factory that exploded in France? There was nothing left but de Brie.

Cheesy but good! We’re pretty sure that’s your work phone ringing so better get back to work. Thanks, Grace, for being a brilliant Skip Chick.
