Hi Emma. Introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Emma Hickling, I’m 40 and I work at KCM Waste Management, where I’m the finance director.
Tell us more.
I’ve been there for 10 years. I manage all the company finances and general management of the office too. My responsibilities change from day to day!
That must keep you on your toes. What do you like about working there?
I love working within a family business; it’s like being at home! I also enjoy seeing the development of the company and seeing the growth from all our hard work.
What was the weirdest day at work you’ve ever had?
I would have to say the photoshoot day for our charity calendar. I didn’t expect to see a load of naked men walking about when I looked at the CCTV!
Hope they kept their hard hat on! Anything you don’t love about the job?
The best and worst part is working with your family! Also, the responsibility is sometimes hard when it comes to tough decisions.
Where will we find you when you’re not hard at work?
Walking our six dogs and spending even more time with my family.
You must really love your family! What the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
I have done so many crazy things – none of which are suitable for a magazine!
We’ll just have to use our imaginations then. How about a romantic soiree – what would it involve?
Drinks and food with my boyfriend, Scott.
Cute. We’re guessing your job means you’re already Superwoman – so what superhero power would you like to have?
I would time travel so I can correct all my mistakes!
Can’t imagine there are many of those. How about sharing your theme tune with us?

Hopefully no wheels on fire at work, though. Amaze us with a fascinating fact about yourself.
I would say the thing I am most proud of is going from working as a barber to being a director of KCM.
That’s quite a change in direction – and handy if anyone needs a lockdown haircut. What three words best sum you up?
Versatile, crazy and opinionated!
If we are ever allowed to go on holiday again, where would you love to go?
Japan.
Imagine being able to invite anyone from the past or present to dinner. Who would be on your guestlist?
My grandad. I would love to show him what we have made from the family business that he started, and for him to meet all his new great grandchildren.
And who would you say is your hero?
Definitely my grandad.
Bet he’d be very proud of you. Ever met anyone famous? Who?

I’d buy KCM and retire my dad!
