March’s Skip Chick: Alix has a song for spring

SHE’S a supercool dancing queen with a song in her heart. Meet Skip Chick Alix Lightfoot of Stoke-on-Trent business, H.Brown & Son (Recycling) Ltd.

Hi, tell us about yourself.
I’m Alix Lightfoot, I’m 23 years old and I work at H. Brown & Son (Recycling) Ltd – also known as Brown Recycling – where I’m a sales administrator.

So, how about you sell your job to us?
I have worked here for just over a year now. No day is the same. I support our business development managers with their admin whilst assisting any existing customers with new enquiries they may have. We also work with a lot of brokers and subcontractors across the country, so my manager and I look after that side of the business.

That sounds full on! What do you like about it?
The list is endless, but the main one has to be the team; whether it’s us having a laugh or if you’re in need of some help, there will always be someone there for you.

They sound a great bunch. Any particularly memorable days at the office?
One day a WW2 hand grenade came in inside one of our skips and the facility had to be closed and everyone had to be evacuated. The bomb disposal unit had to come and carry out a controlled explosion.

Sounds a blast! What about outside work – where will we find you?
I like to keep active, I work out, run and love walking with my dogs.

Busy lady. Tell us about the craziest thing you’ve ever done.
After a few Proseccos I’ll do pretty much anything. I’ve definitely gained some injuries after having too many drinks!

More Prosecco coming right up. First though, tell us about your idea of a lovely romantic night out.
A nice meal out would have to be pasta or pizza followed by some cocktails (lots of Pornstar Martinis), plenty of chat and banter. I wouldn’t say no to Ryan Gosling.

How about a superpower – what would you like to be able to do?
To time travel – I’d love to go back in time to a Queen concert or an Oasis concert.

Given the past year, any gig would do. With music in mind, what would be your theme tune?
ABBA, Dancing Queen. Once I’m on that dance floor you can’t get me off.

Amaze us with a fascinating fact about yourself.
When I was younger, I auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent but was unsuccessful. Maybe it was down to my song choice because I know I have the voice of an angel.

How rude of Simon Cowell not to appreciate your vocal talents! He gets a ‘no’ from us. Now, forget lockdown and the small matter of a pandemic and tell us where you’d love to go on holiday.
Right this second, anywhere sunny! I’ve always wanted to go to the Maldives.

Tell us who would be your ideal dinner guest.
Gordon Ramsay, I think he’d love my cooking and he could really learn a thing or two.

Let’s hope he’s better at spotting talent than Simon Cowell. Ever rubbed shoulders with anyone famous?
Yes, I’ve met Eddie Hall a couple of times. He’s a really nice guy!

Finally, hit us with your best joke.
Why did the chicken go to the séance? To get to the other side.

Right then Alix, time for you to get back to work. Just remains for us to say thanks for being a wonderful Skip Chick!
