January’s Skip Chick: Workouts send Zoe round the pole

IT’S all downhill with our skiing all-star Zoe Kirby of Circle Waste, who’s our first Skip Chick of 2021.

Hi Zoe, let’s get the formalities out of the way: tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m Zoe Kirby, I’m 24 and I work at Circle Waste as a Supply Chain Administrator.

And how’s that going for you?
I have only worked here three months! My day to day job involves a lot of compliance which is making sure we have all the correct legal documentation for suppliers. However, I also get new suppliers to work with us, answer supplier queries and customer calls. It’s more interesting than it sounds.

We’ll take your word for that Zoe! Sounds like you’re enjoying it – what do you like about working there?
I’m not sure exactly, coming to work feels like a hobby. It’s so relaxed but everyone still works hard. I go home and talk about something funny that has happened at work rather than coming home to moan about something.

Thumbs up to that. But working in this sector is never straightforward – tell us about the strangest day at work.
I have many weird days at Circle, and it is usually down to my colleague. She has multiple instruments at work which she frequently plays to the new starters or just because! She is an awesome lady who has also done a sky dive for the charity “Mind” in a bright pink tracksuit.

She sounds brilliant! Any bits of the job you’re not so keen on?
Customers that get angry at you about not having a seriously overfilled skip picked up. It’s difficult because they have to solve the problem by unloading it, which then just aggravates the situation!

Good luck sorting them out. Where will we find you when work is done?
Walking my dog, working out and then cooking or baking to balance it out.

All very sensible – what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Skiing down a red slope (not for beginners) when I’d only had one lesson in the UK. I fell over (crashed) shortly after starting and nearly slid off the edge.

Still time to polish up those skills for the 2022 Winter Olympics. But first, let’s give you superhero powers – what would you love to be able to do?
I would have the ability to fly. I would then use it on weekends to fly somewhere hot. I’m not sure I’d bother with my car either so my commute to work would be so much better!

Certainly would avoid the stress of finding a parking space – and no more fuel bills. What song would be your theme tune?
All Star by Smash Mouth. It has always spoken to me in a way no other song has – ha!

Well you’re our super star. Impress us even more with something fascinating about yourself.
I am a pole dancer in my spare time. It’s an awesome work out and absolutely rockets your confidence.

Now you’ve got everyone’s attention! Tell us what three little words sum you up best?
Honest. Positive. Stubborn.

After a year like last year, we all need a break. Where would you love to go?
Bahamas – more specifically the place that has the swimming pigs!

Yes to the Bahamas, but pigs are for bacon, not for swimming. Talking of food – who would be your ideal dinner guest?
Jennifer Anniston – because she is an absolute legend in my eyes, and I think she would have so many interesting stories because of everything she’s appeared in. I would also like to ask for her real secret to still looking 25!

Who’s your hero?
My sister. She’s taken over her own business in the past year and she is somehow managing so well especially through the pandemic. I genuinely wonder how she copes with the long days and sometimes seven day weeks. I’m super proud of her.

Bet you are – well done, sis. Who’s the most famous person you’ve ever met?
Arg from Towie which I’m not sure even counts.

Yeah, inclined to agree. Let’s shower you with a massive Lottery win. What would you buy?
I like fast cars, so I would be straight down the showrooms. After I’d bought one, I’d be flying down to an estate agent to buy a massive country house with loads of land.

Ah, it’s the simple things that bring most pleasure… Finally, make us laugh with you best joke.
I only ever tell long winded jokes that end up not being funny.

Well that was disappointing. Never mind, you’ve still been a cracking Skip Chick. Thanks Zoe!
