THE Complete Auto Recycling Show (CARS) and Metals Recycling Event (MRE) has been postponed due to the widespread COVID-19 outbreak.
The event, which was originally planned for 03-04 June 2020, will now take place on 18-19 November 2020 at Stoneleigh Park, West Midlands.
Event organiser, Ali McQueen said: “The health and safety of our visitors, exhibitors and the wider community is our number one priority and it would not be fair to run the show in June as planned. With experts now predicting the height of the pandemic in June, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule for later in the year.
“We are hopeful that the situation improves over the next couple of months and look forward to running a successful event in November. We’d like to thank everyone involved for their support and wish them well throughout this challenging time”.
Chas Ambrose, secretary of the Vehicle Recyclers Association said: “Naturally we’re all disappointed that CARS 2020 is not going ahead in June, but it’s completely understandable in the current situation. Our priorities, like all other responsible citizens, are to help slow the spread of the virus, safeguard the vulnerable and when restrictions are eased to ensure that we do not see a sudden spike in infections.
“I know that the organisers have kept this uppermost in their mind and have been preparing contingency plans. Postponing the event is in the best interests of all, but we look forward to seeing everyone, members – friends – colleagues, happy and healthy in the near future.”
James Kelly, CEO, British Metals Recycling Association said: “With the wide restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in place, I welcome Environment Media Group’s decision to postpone the Metals Recycling Event. As a key supporter of the only sector-specific trade show, BMRA is committed to fully supporting MRE in November.
“In the meantime, I look forward both to presenting at one of the conference sessions and welcoming visitors to our stand!”
