THE waste recycler, NWH Group, has acquired the business and assets of Dumfries-based Armstrong Waste Management Limited – the waste management division of the Armstrong Group. With AWM retaining the soils processing and landfill.
Mark Williams, CEO at NWH Group, said: “In line with our strategy for growth through geographical expansion, we are delighted to announce our acquisition of Armstrong Waste Management. Armstrong’s growth has been driven by a passion for making things happen, and we share the same commitment to family values and a desire to deliver a positive difference to the world in which we live.”
The business was acquired for an undisclosed sum, and will add a further 10% to NWH Group’s annual turnover.
Armstrong Waste Management will be re-branded as NWH Group but through a managed process over a period of time, and associated staff being retained. NWH Group aims to identify further growth opportunities for the Dumfries site, and will in turn create a number of new job opportunities in the area.
The Glasgow Road site will continue to provide skip hire, trade waste services and materials recycling from its undercover facility, serving the south west of Scotland, the central belt and the north of England.
Armstrong Group founder, Jock Armstrong, said: “NWH share the same family values and we are delighted to be passing the reins to a business that shares the same customer-focus as we do, and I’m confident that the longstanding relationships we have built over the years will be nurtured by NWH Group. Our staff and customers will be in safe hands, and we look forward to seeing the business grow and develop.”
Armstrong Group was originally formed in 1965 as an agricultural contractor serving the Kirkcudbrightshire farming community. Throughout the years, the business has diversified and continued to invest in modern equipment, adding new services including construction, property and renewable energy, and it will continue to serve its customers in these areas.
