TILBURY is invited to get into the Christmas spirit this year by Tilbury Riverside Project and its main sponsor, EMR Metal Recycling, who have joined forces to turn on the Christmas lights and host the annual festivities.
Annie O’Brien, project manager at Tilbury Riverside Project, said: “It was so generous of EMR to donate £4000 to support the Tilbury Lights this year. It is hard to raise funds for the event, so EMR’s donation has made all the difference.
“The event has been going for over 20 years, but without support from local businesses, it would not go ahead. I would like to say a very big thank you to EMR!”
Martin Thompson, site manager at EMR Tilbury Dock, said: “At EMR, we place a huge emphasis on supporting the communities close to our sites.
“We are very happy to be supporting Tilbury Lights again this year. It’s fantastic to see so many people from the local community come together for this local event.”
The free, family community event will take place on Friday 6 December at 4.30pm at the Civic Square in Tilbury. There will be lots of fun activities, including performances by local school children, a fun fair, Santa’s Grotto and a very special visit from Father Christmas himself!
