SKIP Hire & Waste Magazine will be joining RWM tomorrow,
Wednesday, 8 May, in showing our ecological credentials by going doing away with single use plastic as part of Plastic Free Day.
First set up in 2018 by Alex Rhodes of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, this day sets the challenge of living without single use plastic for a day, documenting your process throughout.
Inspired by the poignant Blue Planet II series, Plastic Free Day is all about raising awareness of single use plastic and our dependency on it. This year, the day will be co-ordinated by The Final Straw, a movement of people who have united around minimising single-use plastic and the pollution it can cause.
As the UK’s largest recycling and waste management exhibition, RWM is proud to be participating in this event to encourage the everyday steps people can take to help in the fight against waste. RWM also provides a platform for commercial solutions for recycling and waste management needs, but there is still more that needs to be done in order to combat the global waste problem. With that in mind, RWM aims to practise what it preaches with regards to effective waste management and help lead the charge for people to take more responsibility over their own waste.
Plastic Free Day will take place on Wednesday, 8 of May, and if you wish to participate as well it is completely free to do so. The rules, advice, and all other literature about the event can be found on the RWM website.
You will be able to keep up to date with everything on social media with the hashtag #PlasticFreeDay, and they will be posting our individual efforts on @RWM_Exhibition using #RWMPlasticFreeDay too.
