Now a familiar sight all around East Anglia and the East Midlands, the ever-growing fleet of Mick George Ltd now stands at just under 200 trucks – with orders already placed for another 65. And whether for tippers, skiploaders or hookloaders, Mick George’s first and only choice is Hyva.
“In each category, Hyva equipment performs outstandingly well” says Pete Newman, Mick George’s Engineering Director, adding that “as a company we put particular emphasis on products that are well designed, robust, reliable and easy to operate. We are in a tough industry and work our vehicles hard. Delivering cost-effective service to our customers is all-important, so unscheduled downtime must be kept to the absolute minimum.”
Looking at tippers, all Mick George’s new vehicles are now specified with the lightweight separate ram and tank FC137 model, introduced to the UK market some three years ago. At 465 kilos ready to work, Hyva’s FC137 remains the only tipping gear purpose – designed for 32 tonnes gvw operation that can genuinely handle heavy site work as easily and reliably as less demanding sand and gravel applications.
For skiploaders and hookloaders, Hyva’s new TITAN models now offer a significant range of product updates, including fully bolted construction, added strength, greater vehicle stability, increased container security and faster on/off operation.
Having such a modern, versatile and well specified fleet gives Mick George a considerable edge in its ability to provide ever higher standards of customer service. Based in St. Ives, Cambridgeshire, and with a further 18 locations including quarries, transfer stations and landfill sites, the company’s operations now span bulk excavation, earthmoving, aggregate supply, readymix concrete, plant contracting and waste management. All of which is a far cry from the single truck the company started out with back in 1978!
“Hyva has proved to be an excellent long term partner as our business has grown” says Jon Stump, Mick George’s Finance Director. “It’s not just everyday product performance that matters, but crucially their whole life cost of operation – which also includes after sales service support, parts supply and their impact on the residual values of our trucks. For us, Hyva is an ideal ‘single point’ supplier for the fleet as a whole.”
