Skip Chick

Posted on: December 4th, 2010 by Louise

December’s Skip Chick is in the rather lovely form of Emma from the northwest of England. Her fella Joe nominated her – but being chosen as the face of December’s Skip Chick Page is not her first brush with fame. She has been doing extra work for Waterloo Road and Britannia High and auditioned for parts on Emmerdale and Corrie. According to boyfriend Joe, she has a fiery temper which keeps everyone in check but deep down she’s a little cutie who loves cuddles and Disney films….all together now:

Ahhhh!

As if that wasn’t cute enough, Joe tells us that they were childhood sweethearts who lived next door to each other before she had to move aged 6 … they met up nine years later, and the rest is history – they’ve been together ever since.

Double ahhhhh!

Now that’s put us in a lovely fuzzy mood, let’s speak to her ourselves. Hi Emma! Tell us a bit about yourself:

Hi there, I’m an 18yr old Capricorn with a birthday on New Years Eve, woo!

Nice. Hope you get some lovely presents this year! Joe told us you’re a singer. Tell us more…

Yeah, I’ve auditioned on X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent and won a local contest in Lytham St Annes called ‘Fylde’s Got Talent’! But because my birthday is on New Year’s Eve and being a singer means its big money on that date so I always have to work on my birthday!

Oh dear… well at least it’s something you love doing. What’s your favourite song to sing?

My favourite song to sing at the moment is Alexandra Burke’s new song ‘Start Without You’. It always gets the crowd going!

OK, you’re a skip chick, do you work in skip hire at all?

I sometimes help Joe out with his skips and keep him company in his wagon all day, though he needs to bribe me to do it with a McDonalds breakfast first!

Plans for Christmas this year?

I’m spending Christmas dinner at my parents this year and there’ll be 13 of us, hectic!

Yikes…good luck with that! I hope there’s enough food to go round! What do you like about the Skip Magazine?

I love reading about the crazy stories in the Skip mag, and I was shocked when I found out Joe entered me for Skip Chick!

Well we all think you’ve made a great Skip Chick. Have a brilliant Christmas – and happy birthday on the 31st Dec!

October’s Skip Chick

Posted on: October 10th, 2010 by Louise

Hang on a minute…is it still summertime? October’s Skip Chick is reminding us of the brief yet fun summer we experienced. As the nights draw in earlier and we all dig our thermal long johns out, the lovely Becca from Wicks Waste Management knows well that if you’ve got it, flaunt it and leaving a few Skip Magazine blokes in the office a little hot under the collar. So without further ado, take it away, Becca…!
Tell us a bit about yourself…

I’ve been working at Wicks Waste Management for nearly six months now, and I really enjoy it. Mainly I take calls for skip orders and collections, and now and again I help in on the weighbridge. I have been reading through your mags, (ah, a woman with excellent taste)… so here goes I’m entering as skip chick of the month!
And I bet there are a lot of lads out there glad that you did! Tell us about your job – what’s the best bit?
The best part about the job is having a crack with all the customers on the phone, a bit of banter never does anyone harm :)

Easy Becca! What’s the funniest thing to happen in the yard?
The funniest thing that I’ve been told that has happened here is an incident which involved one of a garage workers, he accidently caught his privates in his zip… and unluckily didn’t have much choice but to sought help from the girls in our office, I wasn’t with the company when that happened and I’m glad I wasn’t I would have been a heap on the floor with laughter ! Poor bloke!
Ouch! We’ll just keep that unfortunate lad anonymous…what do you get up to in your spare time?
In my spare time I like to go shopping or going out and the occasional horse riding , on rainy days though you can’t beat staying in and watching films in bed with the over half!
Sorry lads – she’s taken! What’s the weirdest thing you’ve found in a skip?
Nothing to date “weird” has been found in a skip, but once we had a phone call from a lady who had lost her wedding ring in a pile of confidential paperwork, which coincidently at the time was being fed through the shredder. Despite every effort, unfortunately she never got it back …whoops.
Oh no! Poor woman! What do you like about the Skip Magazine?
I like reading all the little stories in the mag, and obviously checking out the skip hunk page ha ha!
Of course, the Skip Hunk is rather popular here as well…and have we got a tasty piece of skip hunk meat over the next page…!

Skip Chick – August 2010

Posted on: August 15th, 2010 by Louise

Summer’s here, and the skip chick’s are wearing less. Which is what the lads in the office like, the pervs! August’s Skip Chick is a classy lady however, so we swung by and fired a few questions at her while she was busy on the weighbridge – a multi tasker as well as being beautiful. Bonus!

Hello August Skip Chick! Can you tell us your real name, and some more info on you?

Hi my name’s Jo and I’m 27…I live in Leeds and help out in my Dad’s skip hire yard. Don’t worry, I’m not a driver! I help out on the weighbridge. In fact that’s what I’m doing at the moment while I’m answering your questions.

What do you like doing when you’re not working?

I love summer cos it’s festival season. I’ve just come back from Glastonbury – and just recovered from it as well. We had lots of fun. Me and my friends got dressed up and went as the Spice Girls. I was Baby Spice!

Nice! What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you at work?

Well, we had a driver come in with a load from a woman’s house. She had accidentally chucked away a load of photos, of a, er, revealing nature. One photo was of her with no clothes on doing star jumps! We thought it was really funny, so those photos did the rounds for a while. Chasing after drivers in the yard telling them they’d dropped a photo of their missus, and then giving them the star jumps photo. Funny!

Haha, I swear, you couldn’t make it up sometimes could you? What do you like about the Skip mag?

It makes me laugh. There’s a good mixture of industry news and funny stories. There’s loads of worthwhile stuff in there – and it goes without saying that I LOVE the Skip Hunk feature. You Skip Hunks out there make me laugh so hard – in a good way of course!!!

Thanks Jo! And thanks for being August’s Skip Chick!

Skip Chick – The Hottest of 2009!

Posted on: January 8th, 2010 by Louise No Comments

Our Skip Chick 2009 results have been counted and verified, and we are pleased to announce the winner of our £250 cash prize is Sam Day, March’s Skip Chick. We rang Sam Day who was getting ready for a Christmas Party – she sent us over this rather dishy photo of herself and we had a good old catch up. We’ve got to admit it, we think the best woman won it!

Sam! Congratulations, how does it feel, being voted Best Skip Chick 2009 voted by the Great British Public?

Wow! I can’t believe it. There’s been some hot Chicks in the mag throughout the year, I’m flattered that I got the most votes!

Yes, well, you got 41% of the overall votes, so you won by a bit of a landslide. What are you doing now?

I’m getting ready for a Christmas party – I’m going as Wonder Woman – she’s my heroine. I’m also drinking a glass of bubbly just to get in the party mood.

What are you spending the cash prize on?

Well, I think it’ll fill a whole in my post-Christmas bank account quite nicely. January won’t be as tight as first imagined. I have a big family, so Christmas is normally a price event. Not that I mind, of course. I love buying my family presents. I’m pretty good at choosing what they’ll like.

And what does 2010 have planned?

Well, I’d like to go on holiday somewhere hot in the next few months with my boyfriend; I’m getting a bit fed up with the cold weather! Apart from that, working hard and playing hard – that’s what I’m good at!

Anything you want to say to The Skip Mag readers for the new year?

Well, have a great year, keep hard at it, we’ll hopefully see ourselves out of this recession and enjoying the fruits of our labour. And once again, thanks for those who voted. Can’t wait to see the new generation of Skip Hunks and Skip Chicks for 2010!

Nice one Sam, spend your money wisely!!!

SKIP CHICK – January 2009

Posted on: January 23rd, 2009 by Dave No Comments

skip-hire-chick-42.jpg

We’re an open-minded bunch here at The Skip, so we weren’t phased by the stubble or the Adam’s apple when we received this latest Skip Chick entry. However, we were rather concerned by the bride’s choice of gloves and undergarments for the big day. Not to mention the location! This is Stephanie (aka Stevie) from Buchanan Skip Hire, in Livingston.

Q. Hi Stephanie, please can you tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do? A. Hi there. I’m a JCB driver, working in the waste transfer station.

Q. So what do you enjoy most about working at Buchanans then? A. The people are the best part of my job – my workmates are great.

Q. Is this your normal attire then? It can’t be that easy to drive a JCB dressed up like Richard Branson? A. Well, I just saw the dress, and my partner and I hope to get married this year to Gemma.

Q. Wow, that sounds like a liberal arrangement! Presumably at least one of those two is the pants-wearer then! So what do you get up to outside of work then, Stephanie? A. I help look after my baby girl, Kasey, when I’m not working.

Q. Balancing motherhood with work is always a truly commendable achievement. So what do you and your colleagues think of The Skip mag? A. We all love The Skip magazine here at Buchanans.

Q. Woohoo! Finally, what’s the best thing you’ve ever seen in a skip? A. Most definitely my wedding dress! Well Stephanie, good luck to you and your partner in your triangular wedding to Gemma. Thanks very much for being our first Skip ‘Chick’ of 2009. Does anyone else get the feeling this could be a strange year…?
